About WealthExact
Finance calculators that show their work.
WealthExact is a growing suite of free personal-finance calculators for people who want the actual number — and the reasoning behind it. No accounts, no upsells, no email wall. Just precise tools that show their work.
Who's behind WealthExact
Eric
Founder, WealthExact
I built WealthExact because I spent years frustrated by calculators that gave me a number without showing me why. When I was working out how compound interest would actually affect my savings — or what I'd really need to hit an early retirement target — I kept running into tools that buried their assumptions behind a polished result.
WealthExact started as a set of personal spreadsheets. When I realized others had the same questions and the same frustration, I turned them into proper tools — free, open about their formulas, and honest about what they can and can't tell you. The guiding rule: if you can check the math yourself, you don't have to take my word for anything.
What we publish
Every calculator is built on a standard, citable financial formula — compound interest, present and future value, withdrawal math, amortization — or a named authoritative reference, verified before it ships. Each one comes with a plain-language explainer of how it works, the exact formula it uses, and the assumptions it makes.
We focus on specific, high-intent questions the big calculators answer vaguely or not at all — how compounding actually accrues day to day, what a given FIRE target really requires, what investment fees cost over decades. Each tool exists because the honest answer is more nuanced than a single number, and we'd rather show that than hide it.
Editorial standards
Every tool on WealthExact is held to the same editorial checklist before it goes live:
- Citable math. The underlying formula is traced to a standard financial reference — a textbook definition, IRS publication, or equivalent authoritative source — before the tool is built.
- Labeled assumptions. Every projection that depends on an assumed rate of return, inflation rate, or tax rule names that assumption explicitly on the page. Nothing is baked in invisibly.
- Jurisdiction and year on rate figures. Any tax rate or statutory figure states the jurisdiction (e.g., U.S. federal) and the year it applies to, so you know when to treat it as potentially stale.
- Honest about limits. Where a tool can't be precise — because the future depends on variables no one can guarantee — the page says so plainly instead of projecting false confidence.
- No proprietary models. We use standard, reproducible formulas. If you run the same inputs through the same formula, you get the same answer every time.
Why trust this
Our authority comes from verifiable sourcing and shown work — not from claimed credentials. Every result is traceable: the formula is named, the source is cited, and the assumptions are visible. You can open a textbook or an IRS publication and verify the math independently.
Where the calculation involves inputs no one can predict with certainty — future market returns, inflation, rule changes — we label those inputs clearly and encourage you to test different scenarios rather than anchor on a single projection.
Our commitments
- Free, with no sign-up. Every tool is free, requires no account, and works without handing over your email.
- The math is shown. Each result ships with its formula and the assumptions behind it — never a black box.
- Honest about limits. We label every assumption and state plainly what each tool is and isn't.
- No upsells, no agenda. WealthExact computes; it does not sell products, manage money, or refer you to financial services.
